20.07.2012 - 1st Ramadan 1433h
Ramadan 1433h begins on 20th July 2012 in the UK - yes, reiteration.
I found myself fasting alone this time. Unlike last year my husband was with me and we were in Chesterfield, living in a double storey 2 bedroom house, with a river running behind our house and kindly British neighbours.
This year I began work in the UK on the 17th of July, reaching British soil on the 16th with a night to adjust. I am living with my friends, husband and wife - Binu and Navy who are Hindus and are very considerate. Leaving behind my beautiful baby daughter Maisha with her grandparents to care for her and my husband who I truly pray (please pray for me too) may be able to join me here in Manchester come November this year. All my loved ones are back at home, at least a 13-hour flight away. I miss all of them especially my precious first born child.
But alhamdulillah, I am able to celebrate Ramadan again this year. Difficult but rewarding INSHAALLAH.
Sehri (ending 313am): missed - couldn't hear the alarm
Iftaar (maghrib 9.27pm): 4 slices of baguettes with cream cheese spread, dates, milk and horlicks, water and sausages.
Dinner (11.15pm): 2 chapatis with keema and potato curry, mangoes and water.
