The case of understanding cousins

About a month ago my cousin brother got in touch with me. We are the same age. When we were growing up just before 6 years old we were like siblings living at grandpa's house with other uncles and aunts together with grandpa and grandma while ours mums were busy with their careers or caring for our younger sibling.

So he asked about Islam, more specifically about some translations of the phrases he found in the Quran which he thinks were not true. On some occassions he spoke of his career as a businessman and blooming guitarist chasing his dream to visit his idol in the USA to grow his band. I encouraged him giving examples of successful musicians like Cat Stevens. Made him speak to husband and got along well chatting about other things in the family like passing of uncles and marriage of our other cousins.

He seems to be searching for something but unsure how to proceed. At some point in his reading of the Quran he kept finding fault with translations regarding relations between man and women, the description of the formation of foetus from a clot of blood, the term creator and relations between the father and his lineage. Somehow, it irritated me how he made it sound so wrong. Then he provided sources of his readings and I found that it was from the Christian point of view of Islam, so I recommended he read the translation of the Quran by Abdullah Yusuf Ali and recommended he download iQuran on his mobile for quick reference. I'm not sure if he did both but eventually I gave him contacts of trusted friends who are scholars in Islam and even referred him to listen to Sheikh Hussein Yee. Well, he did contact the ustaz but he seem to think the ustaz did not understand him or did not understand what he wanted to know. So.... I recommended that we read the history of the bible and get to know the teachings and concept of the trinity well before the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church. Now, I'm not sure if he will go for it but I think this may be a start of his journey if so destined.

He is single and looking for understanding, inshaAllah he will find it if only his intentions are right. I referred him to the text in Surah Al-Bakarah (ayat-al-Kursi) 2:255 which is very similar to the catholic pray 'I believe' which is called the apostle's creed or called the Nicene creed since it was instated then (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_versions_of_the_Nicene_Creed). Only the first part resonated with the Islamic tauhid the other verses were made to sound blasphemous rightly opposing Surah Al-Ikhlas. The first sentence goes like this:

I believe in God the father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, of all things seen and unseen.

So  the discussion lasted until today where he says he is trying to understand the Quran but each time he cannot understand why it is so puzzling. I think he needs a teacher and I pray that I can be a most patient one. InshaAllah.
