It’s the last Friday of Ramadan. Day time temperature was 12 deg Celsius. We accompanied the men to Friday prayers at a masjid 40min away by metro just beside muslim street.
It was a new experience like no other. For one, the government of China prohibits minors from practicing any religion therefore they are not allowed in the masjid for Friday prayers. I think this was a surprise for all of us. EJ was a bit disheartened as he had to sit outside while waiting for his dad to complete the prayers. In this case, Malaysia is totally opposite- welcoming youths and children for prayers as long as they behave appropriately.
Most of the day from noon time till night was spent outside with a total 17000 steps on the pedometer. We were tired and I must confess I am impressed with both EJ and MJ for the feat! Anyway, we broke our fast on Muslim street eating halal beef and mutton prepared the Chinese way. It was different not as good as Indian but palatable. It reminded me of Salam Noodles back in Malaysia. Same way of preparation and taste.
I reached surah Al-Qasas today- the chapter on stories and guess what? The story of Moses was again told from the beginning. Yes, a lot of emphasis is given to Nabi Musa and his life’s story in the Quran. Only Allah knows best. Yet there are so many lessons from his life and circumstances which we can reflect and learn. Alhamdulillah. Regarding Nabi Musa:
- How his circumstance was turned from sorrow to joy in infancy.
- How we grew up protected from the person he was supposed to be a messenger.
- How he made major mistakes/sins and seek for forgiveness.
- How he acknowledged his weaknesses and yet still obediently took the calling of Prophethood.
- How he requested for help from God for Aaron/ Harun.
- How he was so patient when he was outcast among the madyan people for a time.
- How he put his trust in God only.
- How he overcame his fear and lead the people out of oppression.
- How he is a humble student with Khidhir to learnt and observe.
- How he became one of the most admired prophets and the father of the Jews.
- How he prompted Prophet Muhammad to appeal for reduction in the frequency of solat.
- How his anger was controlled when he found out disobedience of his people when they killed the she camel and was of the complainers.
