5th Ramadan - Fard and Terawih, sleeping for akhirat, sleep cycles and power naps

Suhoor (2.50am) - Rice and chicken korma and chai (milk tea) for husband. Oats+raisins+banana and milk and two keema samosas for me. Of course with a daily dose of almonds and dates.
Iftaar (9.00pm) - Kheer, dates, bananas and buns with chicken burger and chai (milk tea).
Dinner (12midnight) - Chicken korma and rice and naan.

I was listening to Ramadan TV today. It is very informative! Here's the link: http://www.ramadan.tv/live_stream.php
Definitely the small nuggests of information throughout the day they provide gives us easy and logical tips to make the most of Ramadan.
For instance: On the topic of productivity: They speak of managing our sleep. First point is to make sure we chose the better of the two i.e. sleeping for the world and sleeping for akhirat. By sleeping for the world definitely we may not be able to get up refreshed after suhoor, tahajud or fajar prayers, simply because we may not be getting straight 8 hours of sleep. Therefore sleeping for akhirat is the best choice. By having this intention we should plan our sleep using our sleep cycles. One sleep cycle lasts for 1.5 hours. If we get up after the end of one or a multiple of our sleep cycles, e.g. 1.5 hr or after 3 hrs or 4.5 hr, we will be able to get up refreshed, no matter at what time of the night or how long we have slept. By using this technique we will be able to plan our tahajud prayers and getting up for sahoor and then in the morning for work. Say in the UK if we went to bed at 12 or 12.30midnight and then get up at 2am or 2.30am we would have slept one of our sleep cycles and then this makes getting much easier and refreshed for tahajud and then for sahoor. In the day time, just 20 min of closing our eyes at our work table or just after or before zohr prayers will make up a power nap. After which we should be feeling refreshed throughout the day until iftaar time.

I think this advice is the best so far and perhaps I will practise this for tomorrow.

Yesterday there was a sharing on Huda TV (http://www.huda.tv/huda-tv-programs/watch-live-streaming) on the importance of saying the fard prayers before saying terawih during Ramadan. Before we say our Terawih which is a sunnah we should make sure we have fulfilled all the fard prayers, this is so that our terawih will be, inshaAllah, accepted by Allah taallah.
